The Futurist movement was appetite to portray acceleration and bull action in their art. Boccioni, admitting accomplished as a painter, began abstraction in 1912. He exclaimed that "these canicule I am bedeviled by sculpture! I accept I accept glimpsed a complete advance of that diminished art."[2] The abutting year, Boccioni completed the sculpture. His ambition for the assignment was to characterize a "synthetic continuity" of motion instead of an "analytical discontinuity" that he saw artists like František Kupka and Marcel Duchamp portraying.[3]
